Paris Olympics

Paris Olympics 2024 Redesign

In this dynamic graphic design project, I embarked on an artistic journey to reimagine and celebrate the sport of archery in the context of the Paris 2024 Olympics. My aim was to create a series of interconnected pieces that not only encapsulate the essence of archery but also resonate with the vibrant spirit of the Olympic Games. This multi-faceted project involved the creation of a concept map, an eye-catching poster, a unique 3D sculpture crafted from paper materials, and an engaging commercial, all unified by a distinctive and cohesive design style. The challenge lay in ensuring each piece, while diverse in form, harmoniously reflected the overarching theme, showcasing the elegance, precision, and excitement of both the sport and the Olympic event.

Moodboard
The mood board for my Olympics project is a harmonious blend of geometric abstraction and a retro color palette that invokes the nostalgia of the 1970s. The artwork is a sophisticated interplay of shapes and colors, with each piece showcasing a balance between rounded forms and angular geometry, embodying a sense of movement and harmony that is reflective of the Olympic spirit.
Sketches
The design sketches presented here are vivid explorations of form and color, embodying the dynamic spirit of archery as a discipline in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The choice of warm tones ranging from deep amber to bright yellow captures the essence of concentration, energy, and the swift trajectory of arrows in flight. Each sketch translates elements of the sport into abstract forms, suggesting movement and precision. The bold, gestural lines and shapes convey the archer's focus and the flight path of arrows, while the varied saturation levels add depth and a sense of space. These sketches are not only representational but also carry an emotional charge, mirroring the intensity and passion of the sport.

Content Map

The content map explores the intricate layers of the sport: from the fundamental gameplay, where each arrow's flight is a blend of rigorous technique and controlled breath, to the underlying historical narrative that traces archery's journey through the Olympics, highlighting its evolution and the technological advancements in equipment.

The Olympics, transcending mere competition, symbolize unity and the celebration of human potential. As the event returns to Paris, a city with a rich Olympic legacy, archery will continue to inspire, reflecting the harmony between athlete and nature, precision and fluidity, tradition and innovation.

Design Iterations
My design journey for the Archery concept map began with laying a robust foundation, where I aimed to encapsulate the sport's core elements — the foundational knowledge of archery as it stands in the Olympics. This initial stage was crucial, as it set the thematic tone for the entire project, emphasizing clarity and structure in the way information would be presented.

As I progressed, I immersed myself in the intricate details of archery, from the precise dynamics of gameplay to the technical aspects of the equipment. With each iteration, my design grew richer in detail and complexity, mirroring the precision and meticulous nature of the sport itself

.I meticulously crafted each layer of the concept map, ensuring that the flow of information was intuitive and that each section transitioned seamlessly into the next. This careful orchestration of content allowed me to create a narrative that was both informative and visually compelling.

Poster

In crafting a poster, I channeled the precision and grace of archery through the lens of geometric abstraction. My design ethos was to distill the essence of the sport into its most fundamental shapes and forms, echoing the archer's focus and the arrow's flight in a stylized composition. By meticulously deconstructing the archery apparatus and the athlete's movements, I translated the tension of the bow, the trajectory of the arrow, and the concentric rings of the target into a tapestry of shapes and lines. This visual synthesis, set against a palette reminiscent of a Parisian sunset, captures not just the eye but the imagination, inviting the viewer to contemplate the skill and serenity that archery embodies

Design Iterations
These poster iterations represents a journey through the synthesis of form and concept, where the sport of archery is reimagined through the bold simplicity of shapes and a vivid interplay of color. The project began with a distillation of archery's most recognizable elements into their geometric counterparts, capturing the essence of the sport in a strikingly minimalistic style. Each iteration of the poster delved deeper into the thematic core, introducing complexity and narrative through the strategic placement of shapes that speak to the tension of the bowstring, the flight of the arrow, and the anticipation of the target strike.

Brochure

Paris Olympics 2024 Redesign

For the Paris 2024 Olympics archery brochure, I sought to craft a piece that was not only informative but also visually evocative of the sport's rich tradition and modern vibrancy. The brochure, designed to unfold in four segments, invites the viewer on a journey through the key aspects of archery as it will be presented in the upcoming games.

The cover, with its dark brown hues, encapsulates the elegance and focus of archery, drawing the eye to the bullseye which symbolizes the ultimate goal of every athlete. As one unfolds the brochure, they are greeted with a brighter, golden palette that highlights the glory of aiming for Olympic success and the historical grandeur of the Esplanade des Invalides, the venue for the event.

Design Iterations
The design iterations of the archery brochure represent a meticulous evolution towards a refined visual narrative. Each version encapsulates a progression in complexity and clarity, showcasing the sport's dynamism and the elegance of the Olympic stage. From the initial draft, which laid down the foundational elements of archery - the bow, the arrow, and the target - the design matured through iterations that sharpened the focus on key details and Olympic iconography.

3d Sculpture

Paris Olympics 2024 Redesign

In this sculptural translation of my Paris 2024 Olympics archery poster series, I sought to bring the static visual elements to life through a three-dimensional form. The artwork, a carefully constructed assembly of paper cut-outs affixed to cardboard, stands as a physical manifestation of the sport's dynamics and precision. Each geometric shape, echoing the aesthetics of the poster and brochure

Design Iterations
The iterative process behind the 3D sculpture began with digital explorations, translating the abstract representations of archery equipment and motion into tangible components. Each iteration was a step closer to a cohesive three-dimensional structure, with adjustments made to ensure stability and visual impact within the constraints of the medium. From the initial conceptual sketches to the final assembly, the transformation of flat geometric designs into a physical form required careful planning and execution.
